Private lessons at Woodlands Swimming Complex give one learner, or a small group of family members or friends, a coach's full attention in a shared public pool.

They suit beginners who need a slower pace, nervous swimmers, adults learning for the first time, and swimmers working on a specific stroke or a SwimSafer goal. Is a private lesson right for you?

A private lesson is usually the better choice when the learner is anxious in water, needs a pace that a group cannot offer, has a specific goal such as a stroke correction or a SwimSafer stage, or has a schedule that does not fit a fixed class. Siblings or friends of similar ability can share a small private lesson, which lowers the cost per person. If the learner is confident and enjoys company, a group class may suit just as well.

How coaches are assigned

We match a coach to the learner’s age, confidence, goals and schedule. Coaches’ qualifications and experience vary, so ask us for the assigned coach’s current qualifications and first-aid status before the first lesson. Female-coach requests depend on availability, and lessons at a public pool take place in shared surroundings.

Where to meet at the complex

Woodlands Swimming Complex is at 3 Woodlands Street 13, Singapore 738600. Your coach will confirm the meeting point and which pool the lesson will use before the first lesson. ActiveSG lists three pools here: a competition pool, a teaching pool and a wading pool.

Pool entry and admission

Pool admission is paid at ActiveSG rates, separately from the lesson fee unless your booking says otherwise. Public holidays follow the weekend rates.

Pool hours to plan around

Open 8:00am to 9:30pm every day except Thursday, which is closed all day for maintenance (Thursday public holidays open 8:00am to 9:30pm). On Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday the competition pool also opens from 6:30am. Booking confirmation

Before you pay, we confirm in writing: the coach, lesson format, duration, number of lessons, fee, whether admission is included, the meeting point, and the weather, make-up and cancellation terms. Lessons stop during lightning alerts or when the pool is closed.
